Glenfinnan

Glenfinnan: Monument to 1745 Jacobite Rebellion & Viaduct (Where The Hogwarts Express Passes)

Glenfinnan, situated in the Lochaber region of the Scottish Highlands, holds a significant place in history. In 1745, it marked the commencement of the Jacobite rising when Prince Charles Edward Stuart, also known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie," unfurled his standard along the shores of Loch Shiel. Seventy years later, a monumental structure, the 18-meter (60-foot) Glenfinnan Monument, was constructed at the loch's head to honour this momentous event.

Harry Potter Train

One of the most iconic landmarks of Glenfinnan is the Glenfinnan Viaduct, famous for its appearance in the Harry Potter movies. This magnificent railway viaduct spans across the rugged Highland landscape, providing awe-inspiring vistas of mountains, lochs, and glens.

Walking along the viaduct or crossing it on the Jacobite steam train, known as the "Hogwarts Express," is a thrilling experience that transports you to a world of magic and wonder.
