Kilchurn Castle
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Loch Awe and the Ben Cruachan, Kilchurn Castle is one of Scotland’s most picturesque ruins in Scotland. Built in the mid-15th century by Clan Campbell, Kilchurn once served as a mighty stronghold and a military garrison.
The castle’s strategic location on a rocky peninsula made it a key stronghold for the Campbells of Glenorchy. Kilchurn Castle is particularly captivating at sunrise or sunset, with the light casting golden hues over the loch and surrounding mountains.
Though partially in ruins, Kilchurn is still a lovely location to visit and sometimes you’ll find some Highland coos on the nearby beach and surrounding area.
