    Departure from Glasgow: 08:00 AM

    Stop 1: Luss Conservation Village

Start your day with a scenic drive out of Glasgow, crossing the iconic River Clyde. This river, central to Glasgow’s history, offers magnificent views of the Clyde Estuary where freshwater and saltwater meet. On a clear day, you’ll spot Dumbarton Castle, a historic fortress linked to William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and Mary Queen of Scots, who was imprisoned here during her reign.

Next, journey through the scenic Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park & visit the stunning village of Luss by the shores of Loch Lomond. Enjoy stunning views of Loch Lomond and the Highland Fault Line, where geological forces shaped the land over 400 million years.

    Stop 2: Inveraray Castle

Visit the Inveraray Castle, a splendid example of Scottish castles situated on the shores of Loch Fyne. Learn about the history of the Campbell family, Clan Campbell, and their role in the Wars of Scottish Independence. The castle is home to the Duke of Argyll, and during your tour, you’ll see artifacts like ancient weapons, swords, and other Scottish treasures. The Campbells played a significant part in Scottish and Canadian history, and you’ll also learn about their ties to Queen Victoria.

On route to the next stop, we’ll quickly drive through the town of Inveraray. You’ll learn about Inveraray Jail and its escapees! We’ll soon come into the Kilmartin Glen area after driving through Lochgilphead and see an impressive hillfort to the left of the van. This is Dunadd Fort, a fortress dating from the Iron Age and early medieval period. It’s believed to be the ancient kingdom of Dal Riata and your guide will teach you all about this!

    Stop 3: Kilmartin Glen

After your visit to Inveraray Castle, travel along the shores of Loch Fyne, the longest saltwater loch in Scotland. Keep an eye out for seals and other marine life along the water. From here, head to Kilmartin Glen, home to over 350 ancient monuments spread across the valley. This site is one of the most historically significant in Scotland, with burial cairns, standing stones, and prehistoric sites.

For those who love Outlander, this is your chance to step back in time and discover the magic of ancient standing stones and stone circles. These historical monuments are believed to be over 5,000 years old and are some of the finest examples of prehistory in Scotland.

    Stop 4: Kilchurn Castle

Continue your journey to Kilchurn Castle on the shores of Loch Awe. This abandoned 15th-century castle ruin was once home to the Campbells of Glenorchy and later used by government soldiers during the Jacobite Uprising. After being struck by lightning in 1760, the castle was left in ruins, making it a fascinating historic site for visitors.

    Scenic Drive by Loch Lomond

Once we have explored the incredible castle ruins, we’ll begin our journey back down towards to Glasgow. We’ll be making a brief stop in Tyndrum for the restrooms. Now we’ll continue South towards Glasgow, with some fantastic highland scenery along the shores of Loch Lomond before arriving back in Glasgow for 5pm.

Please note: After the tour departs Glasgow, we may also pick up clients in Balloch and drop them back in Balloch before the tour ends in Glasgow.
