Leave Edinburgh and travel north, passing the famous Forth Bridges as the city gives way to the landscapes of Perthshire.
At The Hermitage, enjoy a short walk beneath towering trees to the rushing waterfalls of the River Braan—your first chance to step into the Highland landscape.
Highland Whisky & the Cairngorms
Continue into the Highlands for a stop connected with Scotland’s whisky tradition, with the opportunity to enjoy an optional dram when available.
Your route then crosses the Cairngorms National Park, where mountain passes and wide-open scenery create an unforgettable journey north.
Fort Augustus & Loch Ness
Arrive in Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness. There is time for lunch and to enjoy the famous loch from the shoreline.
If you would like to get out on the water, you can choose an optional Loch Ness cruise and hear more about the loch’s history, landscape and enduring mystery.
Fort William, Glencoe & Loch Lomond
Travel south through the Great Glen towards Fort William, then enter Glencoe—one of Scotland’s most dramatic landscapes and the setting for one of its most powerful stories.
Continue towards Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, with an optional traditional fish-and-chip stop and, when conditions and timing allow, a chance to see Highland cows.
Return to Edinburgh at approximately 8:00pm. Between November and March, the planned return is normally closer to 7:00pm.

Is the Loch Ness cruise included?
No. The cruise is optional and is paid for separately. You can instead enjoy time around Fort Augustus and the Loch Ness shoreline.
How do I secure my place on the tour?
A 50% deposit is normally required when booking this scheduled day tour.
The remaining balance is due 8 days before departure and is automatically collected using the payment method attached to your booking.
What is the cancellation policy?
For this scheduled day tour:
- 8 or more days before departure: full refund.
- 4–7 days before departure: 50% refund.
- Within 3 days of departure or no-show: no refund.
Are there age restrictions?
Yes. The minimum age for this scheduled group tour is 12 years old.

Where and when does the tour depart from Edinburgh?
Check-in is at 7:45am and the tour departs at 8:00am.

Is parking available at the departure point?
We do not recommend relying on street parking near the city-centre departure point for a full-day tour. Please use public transport, walk, take a taxi or arrange secure long-stay parking in advance.
What time does the tour return to Edinburgh?
The planned return is approximately 8:00pm. From November to March, it is normally closer to 7:00pm.
Highland traffic, weather and road conditions can affect the exact time, so avoid arranging tightly timed onward travel immediately afterwards.
How much walking is involved?
The tour includes an Active Sightseeing walk at The Hermitage of approximately 30 minutes over varied natural terrain.
Paths can be rough, wet, muddy or uneven, so comfortable sturdy footwear is recommended.
What should I wear and bring?
Scotland’s weather can change quickly. We recommend waterproof clothing, warm layers and comfortable sturdy walking shoes or boots.
In season, midge repellent can be useful; sun cream is worth bringing on brighter days.
Are food and drinks included?
No. Lunch, snacks, whisky and other drinks are not included. There are planned opportunities to buy food and your guide will explain the options during the day.
Vegetarian and vegan choices are normally available. If you have strict gluten-free or complex dietary needs, bringing a packed lunch is recommended.
How much luggage can I bring?
As this is a day tour, please bring only a small day bag where possible. Contact us before departure if you need to travel with larger luggage so we can confirm space.
Will there be regular bathroom breaks?
Yes. Regular comfort stops are planned throughout the day. Your guide will explain when facilities are available and when the next stop is expected.
Will I definitely see Highland cows?
We often include an opportunity to see Highland cows, but this is seasonal and depends on the route, timing, animal welfare and local conditions. A sighting cannot be guaranteed.
What happens if bad weather affects the itinerary?
The tour normally operates in Scotland’s changeable weather, so rain alone does not mean the tour will be cancelled.
Safety comes first. Weather, road closures, attraction closures or other circumstances can require your guide to alter the route, timings or individual stops.
